I just learned that the Families with Children from China (FCC) event in Sacramento today no longer needs an RSVP, just show up and bring a dish for the potluck. Details below as posted by FCC on its Yahoo Group.

Have you been wondered what happened to our playgroups? Let’s revive them!
Including the Mandarin culture playgroups – Come on – it’s fun!
Come to our first summer event! This event will be a playgroup for our
young-uns, combined with activities for our older kids, would -be mentors
and helpers. We will have simple Mandarin songs to learn, Chinese themed
arts and crafts and activities for kids of all ages.
Older kids will make and fly a Chinese kite, play with Tangrams (Chinese
puzzles) and other fun things! We would love to have our teens help with
the little kids.
First Five gave funds to the Mandarin Playgroup organizers to use for
re-starting the Mandarin Playgroups and support activities for the siblings
and parents. We will have activities to support our parents and whole
families.
We provide pizza, plastic and plates, and lemonade; You bring the rest:
A-J: Healthy appetizers; K-R: fruit and knoshes; S-Z: Desserts.
